Set in the heart of Arezzo in front of the parish of Santa Maria in the thirteenth century building of the Capitano del Popolo, the Ivan Bruschi Casa Museo hosts an eclectic collection of antiques from Arezzo. Bruschi passed away in 1996. This collection, which was formed in the early years of the 1960's through progressive acquisition of nuclei from previous collections and available material on the antiques markets, today boasts around ten thousand pieces which include furniture, sculptures, books, paintings, glass, ceramics, silverware, jewels, work tools and coins. The objects come from near and afar spanning from the prehistoric period to modern times. Inside the building, in one of the most important and representative public offices of the city during the low medieval period seen by the many coats of arms attached to the façade, the exhibition's layout unfolds showing the collectionist's preferences as well as allowing a reconstruction of the main nuclei of the collection. The visitor who passes through the rooms which were recently restored thanks to the BancaEtruria' s intervention, can observe a selection of objects chosen in accordance with functional criteria whose aim it is to give information on the complex nature of the collection and the principles which have defined its present shape. Both highly esteemed pieces as well As those of significant cultural value stand out.
